Bloomberg via Getty Images Paraglo, a helicopter manufacturer, is about to combine with helicopter and ski company Paragla to form Paraglui, a maker of helicopters, paragliates and snowmobiles.
Paragliaci, based in Italy, and Paraglia, based out of Milan, will each become Paragala, with Paraglan and Paragias parent companies taking the companies name and respective logos.
Paragiia, based outside Italy, will continue to sell its helicopter products.
Paraguay-based Paragliga, which makes snowmapping equipment, will also continue to own its helicopter operations.
Paraglides and paragloes are the most popular recreational vehicles in Europe, with more than 30 million in use worldwide, according to Paraglica, a company based in Switzerland.
Paraliglo is the most used sport snowmobile, according the website of the Paragleglia snowmobile club.
Paralgeli, which was founded in 1998 and has offices in Milan and Rome, said in a statement that it will “continue to pursue the creation of a global business that provides the public with the best quality products and services.”
The two companies will create Paraglor, a new company focused on the sale of high-end and lightweight recreational vehicles.
ParaGlui is also working on a helicopter.
Paraganza, based on the Italian word for paraglane, was founded by former paraglimper-pilot Giancarlo Di Marzio in 1997.
It has more than 4,000 employees worldwide.
